In the case of older waterproofing systems, which are partially deteriorated, Apla offers the following solution for the reinstatement of the waterproofing system:
The deteriorated bituminous membrane layers are removed from the areas to be repaired. Remove any trace of dirt and dust and check that the surface on which you intend to apply AplaHydroRepairs is not wet.
Apply a layer of AplaHydroRepairs, a super elastic bituminous emulsion, using a brush or a roller, on the entire surface to be repaired. The first layer is applied transversally. Leave it to dry and then stretch a fiber glass net AplaMesh, over the remained bituminous membrane. Then apply the second AplaHydroRepairs bituminous emulsion layer, so that AplaMesh is included between two layers of AplaHydroRepairs. This second layer has to be applied longitudinally. After having applied the second layer of bituminous emulsion, sprinkle sand over it in order to form slate. This layer of sand protects the materials from the UV radiation.
